The
Midway Ramblers Cajun Band
has presented its cultural program, “The Cajuns: Their History,
Language, Culture and Song,” to museum groups, libraries, social
and civic groups, seniors, and schools from pre-school to university
level for over ten years. To be sure, The Ramblers is
an entertaining band that plays festivals, concerts, clubs, etc. The
band leaders are Denise and Earl Thompson, college professors who
hold doctorates in foreign languages. And yet, Denise and Earl know
how to entertain and enlighten, how to create instant rapport with
an audience, how to encourage participation, and, along with the
band, how to play those irresistible Louisiana rhythms found in
Cajun and Zydeco music. You’ll learn about this unique music, a
little about the history of the Cajuns, about their language and
culture. Many in our audiences have been to New Orleans or Cajun
country and want to know more about this colorful culture.
It’s
an educational party!
